Nahj al-Balagha Hadith n. 33
وَقَالَ (عليه السلام):
Amir al-mu'minin, peace be upon him, said:
كُنْ سَمَحاً
Be generous
وَلاَ تَكُنْ مُبَذِّراً،
but not extravagant;
وَكُنْ مُقَدِّراً
be thrifty but
وَلاَ تَكُنْ مُقَتِّراً.
not miserly.
